About Josie Fry – Gallery Manager
Having studied Fashion Design at renowned university Central Saint Martins, Josie has long possessed a passion for creativity from global textiles to delicate figurative pencil sketches. Headhunted for renowned British fashion institution Julien Macdonald, Josie went on to produce costumes for internationally respected West End productions such as the Lion King through association with TheatreKnits.
Working alongside Ben since Wyecliffe Galleries was opened in 2004 (coincidentally, the same year that they married) Josie brings a fusing of artistic experience alongside a genuine love of helping art collectors indulge a shared passion.
What do you do at Wyecliffe Galleries?
As the Gallery Manager I have a lot of organising and paperwork to do. But I am also here to help with enquiries, deliveries and advising on artworks. It is always lovely to meet customers at the gallery (or over the phone!) that share our enthusiasm for art and I love hearing about peoples’ journeys collecting art. One of my favourite aspects of working at the gallery is seeing new artwork as it arrives. Often, we are lucky enough to view paintings in progress and its always exciting to see the finished work.
Do you have a favourite painting or artist?
My favourite works of art has to be the two beautiful portraits of my children that were painted by Kerry Darlington. This was arranged as a surprise Christmas present. I still remember how I felt opening this completely unexpected and beautiful gift! And I really hope that our customers have a similar feeling when they receive their artworks. The magical thing about these portraits are that Kerry has captured a moment in time that I get to enjoy every I see them hanging on my wall.
