A Rising Talent
At only 21 years of age, nature-inspired artist, Becky Smith, has incorporated a distinct style of metal sheet backgrounds, circle shaped structures and the painter’s medium application of silver and gold leaf that bring an array of textures to Becky’s ‘Bird of Paradise’ original paintings.
Becky Smith has always had a passion for painting, from a young child all the way through to studying at Wimbledon College of Arts. Turning her passion into a career, Becky chose to pursue a more practical ‘hands-on’ professional path by building a following in the world of contemporary galleries.
Having been inspired by her travels to exotic countries; Becky began to study wildlife art techniques, soon developing into her mystical bird of paradise works: dreamlike, vivid landscapes with echoes of the lucid jungle works of Henri Rousseau and Brett-Livingstone Strong.Being able to bring these mesmerising, colourful scenes to life right in front of her became a satisfying therapeutic technique.
Most of Becky’s recent works incorporate gold, copper and silver leaf. Inspired by artists through the ages, Becky taught herself how to apply and use these are time-honoured techniques.
Becky now works in her newly built studio daily, putting every spare hour into making each piece of art perfect and building up new portfolios of work. She also helps out as Sales Coordinator right here at the Wyecliffe Galleries, relishing the constant flow of artistic inspiration and industry knowledge.
With a singular style and a boldly assured debut, we look forward to working with this new talent and watching what new adventures in art await us with her works to come.
