"I'm obsessed with colour and texture it plays an important role in my paintings, acting as a kind of grab line for an audience before hopefully discovering further meaning to a piece"
Lhouette has carved a truly unique niche for himself in the contemporary art scene with his semiotic mash-up of fashion, art, pop-culture and religion. At once both grungily urban and sleekly high-tech: Lhouette's panels, sculptures and silkscreens are a glimpse into a postmodern world gone haywire - symbols, textures, cultural references and advertising slogans are reappropriated and recontextualised to form bold new statements.
Following his epic 'Video Heaven' exhibition at our Weybridge Studio; we're very excited to receive brand new works from Lhouette's latest foray into the cultural zeitgeist! Two fantastic 'Angel Cake' wall sculptures and an aerosol, oil and resin on board: 'Organised Chaos'!
Anthony, our video editor has been painstakingly documenting the phenomenal detail in these latest pieces, so we hope you enjoy the detailed look at the work in these two videos!
Born in Luton; Lhouette - despite an early talent for art - surprisingly started his career with a five-year spell in the Royal Navy. Since returning home, he completed his post graduate diploma within Birkbeck London School of Arts and set up his own studio for artistic endeavours.
"Glamour and beauty is of great interest to me as an artist. I spend much time flicking through these kinds of magazines, sourcing imagery, creating juxtaposing collages that satisfy me visually, if I had to label my style would be called 'POST URBAN GLAMOUR'"
