Appearing and disappearing at will, sometimes leaving nothing behind but his famous grin, he offers Alice cryptic advice as she attempts to navigate a world where logic has been turned delightfully upside down. Their encounters are among the most memorable in the novel, reminding us that sometimes the most extraordinary discoveries begin when we abandon the rules of the ordinary world.

Kerry's interpretation captures this wonderfully eccentric relationship, where the Cat becomes both an unlikely guide and a playful reminder that Wonderland operates according to its own peculiar logic. His knowing smile contrasts beautifully with Alice's thoughtful expression, creating a charming dialogue between innocence and mischief, curiosity and wisdom.

Unlike Kerry Darlington's richly coloured fantasy paintings, this unique original study embraces the understated beauty of hand-painted sepia washes, allowing the artist's delicate draughtsmanship and expressive characterisation to take centre stage.
