Wyecliffe has long supported artists' expositions of animals and wildlife art, inspirations stem from both the artists' personal encounters, or just a general appreciation for all living beings. It is these paintings of ingenuity that drive our amazingly-talented artists to create some of Wyecliffe's best-selling artwork. In recognition of their successes, we wanted to bring forth the balance of previous triumphs and on-going projects that our exciting artists' have, or are currently putting together, from Rozanne Bell's square portraits of innocent subjects to the soulful eyes of Faye Nasser-Joley's majestic lions and tigers...
Rozanne Bell's relationship with wildlife originates back to her early childhood in Zimbabwe, where she has a wealth of knowledge about the animals from her environment. A mother herself, Bell's acknowledgement of maternal relationships are laid bare as the unbreakable bond between mother and child is well depicted in her art.
Kerry Darlington has always had a love of animals. With an interest stemming as far back as her childhood, the Animals collection resonates with the early ideas of Kerry Darlington. In particular, some of her Classic Folklore works like 'Snow Queen' and 'Beauty and the Beast'show the spiritual connections between animal and human.
Inspired from her many solo trips abroad including a year-long stay in Rome where she set up a studio and studied the work of the great Italian masters, Faye Nasser-Joley is one of our most high-profile artists with clients all over the world. Motivated by the sheer ascendancy that have earned these influential animals the right to be at the top of the pecking order, Faye does a distinct job every-time at showcasing the bravery in the macro shots of her big cats, the intimidating look in there eyes creates an assertive presence in any space as they remain vigilant of their surroundings. Original paintings are three months in the making a piece, Faye only settles for 110% in her work, everytime.
Exotic Artwork
Artworks that are aesthetically pleasing is critical for our wildlife-inspired creators. In this instance, Michael Summers combines an exotic colour pallet with animals associated to hotter climates. A fitting combination some may say. But for Michael, this combination allows him to reflect his own inner vision: creating the impossible and more importantly, making the impossible seem plausible as the fictional elements are there for all to see. Collecting vintage pop culture Americana, and diligently working on his meticulously crafted paintings, Michael Summers' work is shown regularly in San Diego, Laguna Beach and Las Vegas.
Faces of Wildlife
Artist Amy Louise primes every board with a hand chosen block colour, ranging from Elephant’s Breath to the inky tones of Stiffkey Blue, these cool contemporary palettes are ideal for the design conscious. Coated with a final smooth layer of gloss resin, the colour is sealed and magnified, tonal wood frames are subsequently hand selected to suit the animal within.
A hoard of feathered and furry portraits joins the ensemble of Rozanne Bell's animal collection; the roosters on the farm next door that wakes up the neighbours at the crack of dawn to the intrusive character of Australia's landmark animal, the Koala bear; Rozanne Bell selects a stereotypical approach to her resin finish paintings as her lust to generate a response from her subjects remains the same, which are mainly tongue-in-cheek.
Using acrylic on canvas, the approach to Robert’s work is all about being in the moment, the act of making the work and giving himself over to the process and the chemistry which he has nurtured over the years. He wants the work to look like it was made quickly and loosely but on inspection every brushstroke is considered and painted meticulously; something which appears loose and free but in fact is complex which is what nature is all about.
