This is Kerry’s first ever circle portrait to be produced as a unique edition; previously circles include the sell-out works 'Walking Each Other Home' and 'By the Light of the Moon' which were woodland based with animals. As with these works, the edges are finished and designed to be presented unframed.
The edition size is 125 with 20 APs and priced at £795. As the flagship of Kerry Darlington’s work for over a decade, we are delighted to offered low editions and the widest selection of numbers available in the country.
Classical fables and stories by renowned writers such as Hans Christian Andersen and the Brothers Grimm, show to be a large inspiration for much of Kerry's work. Her Folklore Series is the best example of this, with some of Kerry’s most revered works sitting within it, including Snow White Rose Red, and Little Red Riding Hood. Most recently in early 2020, 'Goldilocks' joined this series and was the fasted selling edition Kerry has ever released, selling out within just a couple of hours of launch. Sleeping Beauty is set to follow in its footsteps with the anticipated success of the release as the original has already been sold to a private collector. It has a beautiful connection to Goldilocks, where Kerry has developed her use of silver metal leaf and created a stunning embroidery of storytelling in her dress.

This remarkable piece has been 4 years in the making, with Darlington’s first version of the composition debuted as a work in progress at Wyecliffe’s annual presentation with the artist in 2016. We understand the composition unveiled as part of this release is Kerry’s third attempt at the work, where she settled on the circle format having enjoyed working on a portrait of her son last year entitled ‘Heros Journey’, that was also this shaped style of canvas.
