In 'Hibernation', Kerry Darlington captures one of her most cherished motifs, the timeless bond between innocence and protection. A young girl sleeps nestled into the fur of a great bear, surrounded by the golden shimmer of autumn leaves as the world drifts softly toward winter.

Darlington’s fascination with bears has threaded through her work for years, drawn from folklore where they symbolise guardianship, strength, and renewal. Here, the season’s turning is marked not by loss, but by peace: a promise that every ending carries the seed of new life. Painted with her signature sensitivity and detail, each brushstroke brings warmth and texture to the bear’s coat and the child’s serene expression.

Finished with a matte varnish and metallic leaf, the original exudes a velvety depth, enhancing the rich browns and luminous golds. 'Hibernation' is an intimate reflection of Kerry Darlington’s storytelling; tender, symbolic, and quietly powerful.

Experience and care with each order

Trading for over 30 years, we have made art our passion. Therefore we have developed a strict set of standards for the safe storage and dispatch of our precious works to our collectors. Our meticulous 12-point checklist ensures every work upholds our exacting quality standards when dispatching one of our artworks.

Starting at dispatch from the artist's studio, we've worked together with our community of artists to ensure delivery to the gallery is as meticulous as possible - each work packaged safe transit.

Upon arrival in our Weybridge showroom, each new arrival is examined by the studio & dispatch team. Frames are scrutinised for a perfect finish: glass is polished to perfection with anti-static art cloths. Auxiliary features like the string/wire and certification on the reverse are checked for positioning and correct mounting. Finally, the work itself is inspected to ensure a flawless transition from studio to gallery. Upon purchase, the work is cleaned again and meticulously subjected to our trademark 12-point checking system to ensure a safe secure journey to its ultimate destination.

With a network of framers, restorers, conservators and art dealers with over 50-years experience in the industry, you can rest assured your world-class art receives the highest level of scrutiny and care.
