Kerry Darlington’s 'Elfenwald' takes its name from a word the artist describes as “charming”; a term for an enchanted forest where elves are said to dwell. In this mystical woodland world, a small elf-like child stands beside a watchful hare, their expressions poised between wonder and melancholy. Together they embody the stillness of nature and the quiet companionship found in magical places.

Painted in smoky blue and transparent black acrylic, Darlington builds an atmosphere that feels both timeless and otherworldly. The palette lends a wintery softness, a sense of cool air, muted light, and whispered secrets among the trees. The hare, tall and gentle, becomes both guardian and guide, while the winged elf gazes forward with calm curiosity - a symbol of innocence within mystery.

Part of Kerry’s acclaimed sketch study series, 'Elfenwald' distils her storytelling into a moment of still magic, beautifully restrained, deeply emotive, and rich with mythic undertones.

Experience and care with each order

Trading for over 30 years, we have made art our passion. Therefore we have developed a strict set of standards for the safe storage and dispatch of our precious works to our collectors. Our meticulous 12-point checklist ensures every work upholds our exacting quality standards when dispatching one of our artworks.

Starting at dispatch from the artist's studio, we've worked together with our community of artists to ensure delivery to the gallery is as meticulous as possible - each work packaged safe transit.

Upon arrival in our Weybridge showroom, each new arrival is examined by the studio & dispatch team. Frames are scrutinised for a perfect finish: glass is polished to perfection with anti-static art cloths. Auxiliary features like the string/wire and certification on the reverse are checked for positioning and correct mounting. Finally, the work itself is inspected to ensure a flawless transition from studio to gallery. Upon purchase, the work is cleaned again and meticulously subjected to our trademark 12-point checking system to ensure a safe secure journey to its ultimate destination.

With a network of framers, restorers, conservators and art dealers with over 50-years experience in the industry, you can rest assured your world-class art receives the highest level of scrutiny and care.
