Kerry Darlington pays tribute to one of her most beloved literary worlds with 'Lyra and Will', a pair of original paintings inspired by Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials. Together, these portraits capture the heart of an epic tale: two young souls bound by courage, love, and destiny and surrounded by glittering golden Dust.

Each piece portrays its hero with their daemon; the external manifestation of the soul. Lyra stands alongside pine-martin Pantalaimon, her spirit companion and mirror of her own untamed curiosity. Will is depicted with Kirjava, his sleek and watchful daemon, whom he reunites with after travelling to the World of the Dead and who embodies both wisdom and quiet strength. Through delicate brushwork and soulful expression, Darlington distils the pair’s emotional journey, from innocence to understanding, and from discovery to sacrifice.

Rendered with her characteristic finesse, the tonal palette and composition evoke both intimacy and grandeur and the sense that this connection exists in a space between worlds. The works are available only as a complete set, symbolising that neither story, nor soul, is complete without the other.

'Lyra and Will' are a testament to friendship, courage, and the invisible bonds that define us, a collector’s masterpiece for those who believe in the magic of storytelling.
