My Brown Eyes Blue - Original - SOLD

'By adding a second figure into a piece, a dialogue is created. Do the twins represent separate aspects of the other one, joining forces to become a stronger whole? These ideas form the understory of my creative process, yet these thoughts do not arise until the work is complete. The pair are joined with an intertwined heart, the symbol of love, presented in black and white stripes representing the ‘Yin Yang’ of opposing forces.  The multi layering of this piece has many elements. The background provides a snapshot of my local landscape;  the salty ‘saline’ lake with the silhouettes of the flamingos as they graze for food. The fattest daisies which blanket the banks in the early spring, form the background of the piece, rendered in soft glittering yellow, the colour of the sun shimmering on the water's surface. The gorgeous richness of gold leaf decorated with the outline of a fig, from trees that grow with abandon near my Mediterranean home and the perfume evokes memories of my daughter who so adores their pungent aroma. Finally the perfect pinks of the Oleander petals that grow in abundance throughout in this sunny area, sprawling up the walls and across the canvas in every imaginable hue of vibrant pink and red.'- Louise Dear
