Kerry Darlington Attendance 2019 at Wyecliffe – In Photos

  • 3 min read

We were proud to throw open our doors once more for the very welcome return of bestselling artist Kerry Darlington for her definitive annual appearance at our Weybridge showrooms. Collectors flew from far and wide to join us earlier this month, not wishing to miss out on the chance to see new works unveiled as well as meet the artist herself.

With over 350 RSVPs our galleries and studio space were filled with enthusiastic art collectors making for a night to remember. Our team were delighted to welcome back so many familiar faces as well as meet new collectors, acquiring their very first works and no doubt beginning on a journey following the artist’s incredible imagination.

Unveiled was perhaps the most anticipated storytelling work to date; Until the Wind Changes inspired by iconic fiction and film depicting beloved nanny Mary Poppins. At the time of writing, this new international edition was nearing sell out such was the overwhelming response.

Standout works also included not just one but three deluxe mural works. Measuring 8ft x 4ft per work, the artist has worked at this scale less than a hand full of times throughout her entire career – opportunities to secure such works come along even less.

Boutique Editions – Unveiled Exclusively at Wyecliffe

In an unrivalled period of creativity, the artist debuted seven new boutique editions, unveiled exclusively at Wyecliffe Galleries. Spanning recognisable genres from her elegant portrait works composed on raw wood board such as Swan Lake inspired Young Odette, and stylised motif work in stunning peacock Kirjavanamed in honour of Philip Pullman’s literary concept of daemons from the Dark Materials trilogy.

Inspiring the title of the event itself, new edition By the Light of the Moon saw Darlington’s first ever circular boutique find form. A striking interpretation of the moon itself with references to the artists Godrics Hollow series saw ghostly silhouettes of gothic homes setting the scene in the bewitching hour for a parliament of owls.

Radiant and spiritual, Birth of an Angel and Angel Illuminated are two exquisite new works focused on a developing fascination for the artist. Portraying her daughter Elle as an angel, the works reference themes of motherhood and otherworld’s in a manner only Kerry could achieve.

Darlington’s Personal Archive

Noted for the widest catalogue of Darlington’s work available, the showcase presented the opportunity to delve deep into our archives and showcase cult works that few have ever witnessed in person. Standout opportunities included the breath-taking original of Daughter of Gaia which travelled to our galleries from the artists own home; one of Darlington’s most acclaimed and complex compositions to date. It was with great delight collectors also took in earlier works such as The Pirate Ship and East of the Sun West of the Moon which are amongst the artists favourites.

A surprise treat was the inclusion of work in progress of the artists forthcoming work inspired by Goldilocks and the Three Bears; Darlington rarely shares incomplete works, and this provided a unique opportunity to take in the extraordinary fine detail lavished on every original piece to create translucency of skin and depth of fur. Anticipated for release come Spring 2020, please register your interest now for this expcetional work.

Thank You

The Wyecliffe Team and Kerry would like to say a huge thank you to all who joined us for the evening – we greatly appreciated the considerable efforts to attend despite inclement weather. Thank you also to all of those who weren’t able to join us though sent on their best wishes, as well as collectors who loaned works or delayed accepting their new acquisitions so they could be included in the By the Light of the Moon exhibition. Until next time!
