With this method you can secure your favourite painting or sculpture with a deposit to ensure that you don’t miss out, where we’ll store the piece here on gallery premises until the balance payment has been completed. There is no additional charge for this service.

Yes. Get the ideal artwork for a loved one with the Wyecliffe Gift Voucher. Denominations are available in increments of £50, and are redeemable by using our unique online code, issued when purchased. Valid for up to 12 months.

Can I buy with Interest Free Credit?

What is the Wyecliffe Loyalty Scheme?

Our Loyalty Scheme is all about helping you get more out of your art purchases. When you register on wyecliffe.com, you will have the opportunity to register for a loyalty account.

You will be awarded 8 point for each complete £1 (excluding delivery costs) that you spend in a single transaction and these points can be redeemed in the form of e-vouchers/e-codes for future art purchases that you make through the site.

How quickly can I have my artwork?

In some instances you can have it on a Monday- Saturday same day service. We also offer a next day service if your chosen painting is currently in stock, ready framed (if applicable) and you make your purchase by 2pm GMT Monday-Thursday (UK delivery locations). Once an order is made on-line you will be contacted to discuss convenient delivery days. If next day isn’t convenient or possible, we’re happy to arrange delivery on a date which is suitable for your schedule. UK carriage on most paintings is free of charge.

We work with international collectors daily and are accustomed to the shipping requirements of countries such as Europe and Australia. The time frames for international shipments are quoted on a case by case basis, though transit typically takes 5-7 working days.

Can I order a commission?

Yes. The Wyecliffe Galleries specialises in working closely with artists to produce outstanding commissions for our clients. We politely request a 50% minimum deposit to confirm the commission, with balance payment due on completion. Many would assume that commissioning an artwork is very expensive – it isn’t! In most cases, it is the same as if you were to purchase the painting from the gallery wall. The time frame to receive a commissioned painting varies from artist to artist, though for many it is typically as little as 8 weeks.

What if I want to return my order?

In the rare instances you would like to return your artwork, we offer a 14 day guaranteed returns policy on internet and phone purchases to help you buy with confidence. A credit note can be issued for exchange so that we can help you find a fantastic alternative or a refund will be applied to the original card used within 7 working days of the goods being safely returned. Customers are welcome to arrange the return at their expense/liability or we can often assist by generating a quotation from our network of couriers if you would like us to arrange this for you

VALUATIONS AND INSURANCE

Can you value my artwork?

Due to the surge in art sales over the past few years we are sadly no longer able to offer valuations for artwork. Many collectors look for annual insurance valuations often for large portfolios. Accessing the provenance, and current values of art can take many hours for each work. It is sadly no longer feasible for us to provide this.

Generally the art market has been strong and we suggest clients look to auction houses and online auction websites to gauge current market levels to make sure that they are sufficiently insured.

What is the best way to sell my Art?

Due to UK VAT and selling fees, the most economical way to sell your painting is online market places / auction houses. We suggest keeping an eye on works for sale similar to your own and monitoring final sale prices to gauge current demand.

Why is Art a good investment?

As an alternative to first growth wine and prestigious cars, fine art is a popular choice for investors to yield returns as a long term strategy. At Wyecliffe, we nurture our artists and work hard to secure high profile commissions and place their pieces into prominent collections to protect and add value to whole portfolios.

Timing is pivotal and in many cases it may be some years before additional value is accrued in your artwork; in five years’ time what is currently selling for £1,000 may sell for £5,000, but equally, may still sell at its original asking price.

HANGING ART

How should I store my work?

Storing your artwork is mostly common sense. Make sure the frame is securely covered with foam or soft padding to ensure that it cannot be chipped or damaged in whilst in storage. Cover the image with a sturdy board, or loose bubble wrap at minimum so that the artwork isn’t exposed to dust and debris.

Avoid bubble wrap pressing against the front of the work as this can cause damage itself. Keep the artwork in a relatively cool (room temperature) and dry place; water is a major threat to the preservation of art and so be sure not to leave it resting against an area of damp or in a non-watertight loft.

How should I hang my work?

All wall based artworks available for sale at Wyecliffe Galleries are sold ready to hang, with the most secure method for the applicable piece; this ranges from string, to D-rings.

We suggest using screws and the correct wall plug rather than picture hooks, and they are more capable of carrying sustained weight. Most good DIY stores will have these for sale and be able to provide advice based on your wall material. Wyecliffe Galleries can also offer a nationwide installation service; Picture Framing

TECHNICAL STUFF

What are the benefits of different mediums?

Traditionally oil paints were favoured by artists for their richer pigments which whilst taking some time to dry created great surface texture. Acrylics previously were seen as a lesser medium with a flatter finish, however with modern evolution they are often used in contemporary art where they rival oil paints for variety and vibrancy in colour. With the advantage of drying quickly (often within as little as an hour), this has given artists the opportunity to paint with great speed and complexity, adding multiple layers over a shorter period of time.

What is Resin?

Resin has emerged in recent years as a fantastic versatile medium to use in in art. A water-resistant glue-like substance, epoxy resin is applied to a painting when as a fluid, drying to form a clear durable gloss finish.

Artists can completely cover their work to create a pure sheen for a contemporary aesthetic, or use a drip technique on selected areas to catch the viewers eye. As resin is applied by hand there may be little marks or dimples present in or underneath the sheen. This is nothing to be concerned about and should be expected from a hand made original or unique edition work.

What is a Giclee, Silkscreen & Lithograph?

There are a variety of different terminology for types of quality limited edition prints which often refer to the method in which they have been created like Giclee, Silkscreen and Lithograph.

What is a Unique Edition?

Unique Editions are reproduced onto paper and sealed behind reflective glass with the idea of producing in high quantities but each one purposely distinctive. Wyecliffe Galleries offer the opportunity to pick your exact edition, to reflect that the first to the last piece is lavished with the same extraordinary attention to detail and imaginative re-interpretation.

What is an Artist Proof?

Artist proofs are the first pieces produced for an edition, they are labelled a/p and normally represent 10% of the main edition size, so an edition of 300 will have 30 artist proofs (so 330 pieces in total), although there are exceptions to this. Traditionally the artist proofs had subtle differences worked on by the artist (however in the case of Kerry Darlington’s work the whole edition is often unique). Artist proofs are rarer than standard editions and only usually available for a new release. Artist proofs often sell at the same price as the main edition however they can demand a premium on the secondary market as they are more sought after. Many collectors like the fact they are produced first and often collectors have an all artist proof collection.
