Shower Of Stars - Edition (Paper)

Shower Of Stars - Kerry Darlington

A crooked pointed hat, a little wand and a faithful feline companion. Sometimes, that's all it takes to make a little magic. In Shower of Stars, Kerry Darlington captures the wonder of childhood imagination in a beautifully atmospheric woodland scene, where a young figure and their beloved cat sit beneath a sky illuminated by countless shimmering stars.

Wrapped in a rich crimson cloak, the little magician gazes towards the heavens, wand raised as though summoning the celestial spectacle above. Beside them sits a magnificent tabby cat, its soft fur glowing in the warmth of the autumn evening. Is this a young witch or wizard discovering their powers, or simply a child lost in a wonderful game of make-believe? Kerry leaves the story open to interpretation, allowing the imagination of the viewer to complete the scene.

Slender woodland trees frame a delicate crescent moon, while a shower of stars illuminates the rich amber sky. Below, the forest floor glows with a tapestry of russet, copper and golden leaves, creating a magical atmosphere that feels both wonderfully nostalgic and entirely otherworldly.

The painting also holds a charming literary connection. Kerry suggests that the extraordinary shower of stars may have been conjured by Dedalus Diggle, the eccentric wizard from J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. In the novel, Diggle is responsible for the shooting stars witnessed over Kent during the celebrations following Lord Voldemort's downfall. The celestial display becomes a wonderful expression of hope, freedom and the triumph of light over darkness, adding another layer of meaning to Kerry's enchanting composition.

The cat's presence is particularly important. Whether imagined as a magical familiar or simply a loyal companion, it represents the friendship, trust and affection at the heart of Kerry Darlington's Menagerie collection. After all, even the greatest adventures are better when someone is there to share them.

Presented as a hand-embellished mixed media edition on fine art paper, Shower of Stars captures the intricate detailing and warmth of Kerry's original composition. Individually applied metallic leaf embellishments catch the light amongst the stars, enhancing the painting's celestial atmosphere before the artwork is completed with a protective varnish finish.

With an exceptionally small edition of just 25 Limited Editions and 15 Artist Proofs worldwide, Shower of Stars offers collectors a charming celebration of imagination, friendship and the magic hidden within everyday moments.

A little magic, a faithful friend and a sky full of possibilities.
