In the original Deep in the Whispering Wood, Kerry Darlington captures the heart of The Magic Faraway Tree in its purest form, a one-of-a-kind work where every detail has been shaped, layered, and resolved by the artist’s hand.

Moon-Face sits among the branches, joined by Silky, the Saucepan Man, Dame Washalot, and the Angry Pixie, while Joe, Beth, Frannie, and Rick climb, pause, and gather within the tree’s hidden spaces. The composition feels both expansive and intimate, revealing new moments the longer you spend with it.

Above, the Land of Toys drifts gently into view, adding a sense of lightness and movement, while below, the woodland scene settles into something quieter, small, beautifully observed details that bring balance to the world above.

Finished with hand-applied gold leaf and sealed with an archival varnish, the surface holds a richness and depth that can only exist in the original. Every texture, every shimmer of light, carries the presence of the artist’s process.

Entirely unique, this is the piece from which everything else follows, a singular work that holds both the story and its beginning.

Finally, the work itself is inspected to ensure a flawless transition from studio to gallery. Upon purchase, the work is cleaned again and meticulously subjected to our trademark 12-point checking system to ensure a safe secure journey to its ultimate destination.
