The Northern Lights - Kerry Darlington

A sky full of wonder, a world of possibility and the reassuring presence of those who will never leave our side. Kerry Darlington's The Northern Lights captures the irresistible magic of Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials, bringing together three beloved characters in a moment of quiet companionship beneath the Arctic sky.

Lyra Belacqua, the spirited young adventurer destined to become Lyra Silvertongue, gazes upwards as the Aurora Borealis sweeps across the heavens. Brilliant ribbons of turquoise, magenta, violet and golden orange dance around her, illuminating her expressive features and windswept copper hair. Tucked safely into her coat is Pantalaimon, her beloved dæmon, whose presence represents a connection far deeper than ordinary friendship.

Watching over them is Iorek Byrnison, the great armoured bear whose loyalty to Lyra becomes one of the most touching elements of Pullman's extraordinary literary world. His beautifully rendered fur and intricately decorated armour reveal Kerry's remarkable attention to detail, while his peaceful expression brings an unexpected tenderness to this imposing Arctic companion.

Presented as a Limited Mixed Media Edition on fine art paper, each artwork is individually hand embellished and finished with a protective varnish, preserving the vibrancy and intricacy of Kerry's imaginative composition. The accompanying Artist Proofs feature additional metallic leaf embellishment, introducing a subtle luminosity that beautifully complements the glowing colours of the Northern Lights.

With only 45 editions and 20 Artist Proofs available worldwide, The Northern Lights offers a beautiful opportunity to welcome the magic of Kerry Darlington's storytelling into your home. A reminder that the greatest adventures are made all the more extraordinary by those who share them with us.

Experience and care with each order

Trading for over 30 years, we have made art our passion. Therefore we have developed a strict set of standards for the safe storage and dispatch of our precious works to our collectors. Our meticulous 12-point checklist ensures every work upholds our exacting quality standards when dispatching one of our artworks.

Starting at dispatch from the artist's studio, we've worked together with our community of artists to ensure delivery to the gallery is as meticulous as possible - each work packaged safe transit.

Upon arrival in our Weybridge showroom, each new arrival is examined by the studio & dispatch team. Frames are scrutinised for a perfect finish: glass is polished to perfection with anti-static art cloths. Auxiliary features like the string/wire and certification on the reverse are checked for positioning and correct mounting. Finally, the work itself is inspected to ensure a flawless transition from studio to gallery. Upon purchase, the work is cleaned again and meticulously subjected to our trademark 12-point checking system to ensure a safe secure journey to its ultimate destination.

With a network of framers, restorers, conservators and art dealers with over 50-years experience in the industry, you can rest assured your world-class art receives the highest level of scrutiny and care.
