Midsummer Eve - GOLD Edition

Midsummer Eve - Kerry Darlington

An extraordinary garden deserves an extraordinary interpretation. In Midsummer Eve, Kerry Darlington invites collectors into a world where Shakespearean enchantment, the idyllic beauty of the Garden of Eden and the magical creatures of fantasy literature intertwine. Now presented as an exceptionally rare GOLD Edition, limited to just 10 worldwide, this richly imagined composition takes on an additional dimension of precious detail.

At the centre of the painting, a young woman sits amongst an abundance of flowers and woodland foliage, her auburn hair cascading around her shoulders as butterflies gather in the warm, filtered light. Her peaceful expression evokes the innocence of Eve, while the surrounding garden seems alive with the otherworldly enchantment of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Around her, an extraordinary gathering of creatures creates a world of companionship and quiet discovery. A white bird spreads its wings, a squirrel ventures amongst the branches and a beautiful white creature watches from the canopy. A delicate pine marten introduces a further literary connection, recalling Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials and the profound relationship between Lyra Belacqua and her dæmon, Pantalaimon.

The title Midsummer Eve captures this meeting of literary worlds, suggesting both the magic of a midsummer evening and the innocence of an imagined paradise. It is a composition that rewards close attention, with every flower, feather and woodland creature contributing another layer to Kerry's intricate storytelling.

For this exceptionally limited interpretation, precious gold leaf is individually applied alongside Kerry's distinctive three-dimensional embellishments, before the artwork is completed with a luminous gloss resin finish. The gold introduces a beautiful interplay of light and texture, enhancing the richness of the garden and bringing an additional sense of depth to the composition.

With only 10 GOLD Editions available worldwide, exclusively for the Menagerie launch night, this is the rarest edition format of Midsummer Eve. A remarkable opportunity for collectors seeking an especially distinctive interpretation of Kerry Darlington's enchanting woodland world.
