Oxido - Original

Oxido - Kerry Darlington

A striking exploration of colour, texture and transformation, Oxido reveals a bold, contemporary expression of Kerry Darlington's artistic vision.

Taking its name from the Spanish word for oxide, Oxido evokes the rich, unpredictable beauty of weathered metals and naturally oxidised surfaces. Fiery shades of burnt orange, crimson, copper and deep umber mingle with flashes of gold and earthy green, while intricate, branching lines travel across the composition, creating extraordinary depth and movement.

What makes Oxido particularly distinctive is Kerry's integration of the ornate frame into the artwork itself. Rather than simply surrounding the painting, the intricately sculpted frame becomes an inseparable part of the composition, with colour, texture and metallic embellishments flowing across its elaborate mouldings. The result is a fascinating contrast between classical ornamentation and contemporary abstraction.

Gold leaf embellishments introduce flashes of luminosity, while a gloss resin finish intensifies the richness of the layered surface. A one-of-a-kind original painting, Oxido celebrates Kerry's instinctive understanding of colour and material, transforming the beauty of natural decay into something richly expressive and visually compelling.
