“Structurally I took inspiration from deficit interiors; broken plaster board exposing wooden beams, in keeping with the industrial aspect that influence a lot of the work. I then started to think about opposing ideas - ‘new and old’ and ‘life and death’ were the original working titles and this is where the theme developed,"

Stripped Down


Inspired by the tangibility of up-cycling materials as well as absorbed by the influential powers of brand and culture, Lhouette's imagination has born the ultimate in boutique editions, the ‘Paint Strippers’ series. Pushing the creative boundaries of his character-lead collections, each edition features an entirely unique choice of superhero or cartoon character hand sprayed and finished by the artist himself.

Compiled of just 10 pieces plus 5 APs in total, these semi-print, semi-original hybrid works are built directly upon the foundations of well received concept pieces ‘Maximalist Pop Panellist’. Playing with the idea of re-inventing every edition freshly, both titles challenge the concept of a static print as traditionally known in the art world, revolutionising it with so much additional work that collectors can now benefit from a piece that is "as close as you can tangibly get to an original."
