Magma II - Kerry Darlington

Rich with fiery colour and expressive movement, Magma II explores the dramatic beauty of volcanic landscapes and the extraordinary transformations taking place beneath the earth's surface.

Vivid passages of scarlet, copper, amber and burnt orange intertwine with luminous white, smoky grey and cooler metallic tones. Flowing, organic formations travel diagonally across the composition, suggesting molten rock in motion and the intricate patterns created as natural materials shift, fracture and transform.

Through her distinctive mixed media techniques, Kerry Darlington creates a richly textured surface, with delicate metallic leaf embellishments introducing flashes of luminosity amongst the layered pigments. Finished with gloss resin, the artwork possesses a striking depth and vibrancy, enhancing the contrast between its fiery colours and cooler mineral-like passages.

Created as the companion to Magma I, this original shares its sibling's dynamic palette and geological inspiration while retaining its own distinctive arrangement of colour and form. The two paintings can be acquired separately or as a matching pair, creating an impressive sense of continuity when displayed together.

A one-of-a-kind original painting, Magma II is a compelling expression of Kerry's contemporary abstract practice, celebrating the raw energy, unpredictable beauty and remarkable visual complexity of the natural world.
