The colour palette of Scott Bauer's painting is directly inspired by the harmony of blues, golds and infinite variety of flesh tones in that picture. When he paints in a completely abstract idiom, Scott likes to have certain parameters to contain his vision. In this case, palette and a certain chromatic harmony, give the framework for a work made up of hundreds of bands of modulated colour. Palette aside, the artist's painting is about taking something ineffable in nature and translating it into something tangible; however abstract an idea, the painting itself becomes its own reality.
