Magma I – Kerry Darlington

A powerful exploration of colour, movement and natural forces, Magma I captures the extraordinary energy of the earth's molten depths in an original abstract painting by Kerry Darlington.

Fiery shades of crimson, vermilion, burnt orange and molten gold flow through the composition, contrasted against cool silver-grey, soft white and earthy mineral tones. Inspired by the raw beauty of magma and volcanic formations, the painting evokes the movement of molten rock beneath the earth's surface, where intense heat and pressure create extraordinary natural patterns.

Kerry's expressive mixed media techniques introduce intricate, branching details and richly layered textures, while metallic leaf embellishments catch the light amongst the vibrant pigments. A gloss resin finish enhances the intensity of the colour and creates a remarkable sense of depth, bringing an almost liquid quality to the composition.

Created alongside its companion painting, Magma II, this original forms one half of a striking, coordinated pair. Sharing a fiery palette and flowing geological character, the two artworks can be acquired individually or displayed together, creating a powerful visual dialogue across both surfaces.

A one-of-a-kind original painting, Magma I celebrates Kerry Darlington's instinctive understanding of colour, texture and movement, transforming the dramatic beauty of the natural world into a bold contemporary composition.
