A study in intimacy, allure and quiet self-possession, 'I Love You MADLY' is an original mixed-media portrait on aluminium by British contemporary artist Louise Dear. Created for her Compact Classics collection, the work revisits one of Dear's familiar female figures with a deliberately restrained approach, allowing the beauty of her drawing, colour and metallic surface to speak with extraordinary clarity.

There is something immediately captivating about 'I Love You MADLY'. Partially concealed behind a sweep of cascading hair, the female figure meets the viewer with a single piercing blue eye. Her expression is poised and enigmatic; close enough to feel intimate, yet retaining an intriguing sense of distance. Against the luminous gold ground, vivid pink, orange and flashes of blue travel through the portrait with an almost electric intensity.

Dear's fluid black line gives the figure her unmistakable character. Hair tumbles across the composition in long, expressive gestures, while saturated colour appears almost fragmented beneath it. Rather than describing every detail, Dear leaves space for the eye to complete the image. The result is seductive without being obvious, a portrait whose power lies as much in what is withheld as in what is revealed.

The title adds another layer. 'I Love You MADLY' speaks of emotion at full volume, yet the figure herself remains beautifully composed. That contrast between emotional intensity and visual restraint gives the work its particular magnetism; passionate in spirit, sophisticated in execution and unmistakably Louise Dear.

The Compact Classics represent a conscious return to some of Dear's most recognisable and collected imagery. Drawing upon techniques refined throughout her practice, the artist pares back additional embellishment and allows her expressive marks to function as decorative elements in their own right. In 'I Love You MADLY', this approach gives the portrait an immediacy and confidence that feels both familiar and newly resolved.

Created on aluminium using mixed media including gloss paint, gold leaf, diamond dust and glitter, the artwork possesses a physical luminosity that continually responds to its surroundings. Light moves across the metallic surface and catches its sparkling details, while the intensity of the pigment gives the portrait a richness that cannot be fully experienced through a screen.

At 70 × 50cm, 'I Love You MADLY' offers an exceptional entry point into Louise Dear's original portfolio. Conceived to introduce original ownership to a wider circle of collectors, the Compact Classics present distinctive elements of Dear's celebrated visual language through a focused series of one-off original works.

For collectors drawn to contemporary portraiture with glamour, femininity and emotional charge, 'I Love You MADLY' is difficult to resist - intimate, enigmatic and designed to hold the gaze.
