To A Butterfly - Original

€3.464,95 EUR

Poetry, symbolism and extraordinary craftsmanship come together in To a Butterfly, a remarkable one-of-a-kind original by Kerry Darlington and the first artwork of its kind.

Taking its name from William Wordsworth’s poem To a Butterfly, the piece echoes the poet’s fascination with nature, memory and wonder. Butterflies have their own significance within Kerry’s work too, appearing as symbols of transformation, renewal and rebirth throughout her artistic journey.

Here, delicate three-dimensional butterflies emerge amongst beautifully layered paint and resin, elements familiar to collectors from works including Summer Nectar and Heart Full of Love, but reimagined within an entirely new composition.

What makes To a Butterfly particularly captivating is its relationship with light. Translucent layers of colour and resin create an almost stained-glass quality, allowing light to travel through the artwork and illuminate its extraordinary depth and detail. The effect changes as the surrounding light changes, giving the piece an almost ethereal presence.

There is something wonderfully fairytale-like about the finished work: part painting, part sculpture, part enchanted mirror. Yet beneath its beauty lies the meticulous layering and technical craftsmanship for which Kerry’s original artworks have become so highly regarded.

As the first original of its kind, To a Butterfly represents an exciting evolution of ideas Kerry has explored through previous works, brought together here in a completely unique creation.

For the collector, it is an opportunity to own not simply a Kerry Darlington original, but a distinctive moment within the continuing development of her work.
