Two sides of Oz come together in this matching limited edition set by Kerry Darlington, pairing Elphie and Glinda with The Scarecrow, The Tin-Man and The Cowardly Lion. Drawing upon L. Frank Baum’s original Land of Oz and the world reimagined through Gregory Maguire’s Wicked, the two artworks explore characters whose stories have become inseparable from one of fantasy literature’s most enduring worlds.
In Elphie and Glinda, Kerry turns to the friendship between Elphaba and Glinda, before their very different paths lead them towards the famous titles of the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good. Glinda glows in brilliant pink beside the emerald green of Elphaba, surrounded by flowers, butterflies and decorative detail, while the unmistakable pointed hat hints at everything still to come.
Alongside them are three familiar travellers from the Yellow Brick Road. The Scarecrow, the Tin-Man and the Cowardly Lion each set out for the Emerald City believing the Wizard can provide what they lack: intelligence, a heart and courage. Kerry captures the trio in her delicate painted-sketch style, placing the Tin-Man and his brilliant red heart at the centre of the composition.
Together, the two works reveal one of the threads that makes the mythology of Oz so compelling. Who we are and who the world tells us we are can be very different things. The supposedly brainless Scarecrow proves himself thoughtful, the heartless Tin-Man deeply compassionate and the Cowardly Lion capable of courage; while Wicked asks us to reconsider how one young woman came to be remembered simply as wicked.
It is fertile ground for Kerry, whose paintings have long been shaped by fairy tales, fictional witches, misunderstood characters and the hidden meanings within familiar stories. Presented together, the richly coloured witches and softly rendered companions also showcase two distinct sides of her practice, connected by the same love of storytelling.
Only 45 Limited Edition sets and 15 Artist Proof sets are available worldwide. Each artwork is produced on fine art paper and individually embellished by hand, with silver leaf applied to the Limited Editions and copper leaf reserved for the Artist Proofs, before being finished with varnish.
Both artworks are signed by Kerry Darlington and accompanied by Certificates of Authenticity. Hung side by side, they bring together witches and wanderers, friendship and courage, and two interconnected journeys through the extraordinary world of Oz.

Our meticulous 12-point checklist ensures every work upholds our exacting quality standards when dispatching one of our artworks.
Starting at dispatch from the artist's studio, we've worked together with our community of artists to ensure delivery to the gallery is as meticulous as possible - each work packaged safe transit.
Upon arrival in our Weybridge showroom, each new arrival is examined by the studio & dispatch team. Frames are scrutinised for a perfect finish: glass is polished to perfection with anti-static art cloths. Auxiliary features like the string/wire and certification on the reverse are checked for positioning and correct mounting. Finally, the work itself is inspected to ensure a flawless transition from studio to gallery. Upon purchase, the work is cleaned again and meticulously subjected to our trademark 12-point checking system to ensure a safe secure journey to its ultimate destination.
