I did paint dragons often in primary school actually! My favourite Illustrators painted dragons and they also appear in other fantasy series' that I have loved; such as Tolkien's works and Eragon by Christopher Paolini.”

The Next Chapter

There are many reasons why Flight of the Dragons is one most eagerly awaited Kerry Darlington work of all time. There's the unprecedented success of the original 'Dragons’ series edition The Worlds Collide. This in turn has inspired Kerry to create an even more exhilarating composition. A literal army of characters and some of her most daring and accomplished architecture.

This sequel is one of her greatest labours of love - taking months of care and attention. And the results are stunning... Taking all the intricacies of a 'Nature's Faeries’ or 'Peter Pan’ canvas and expanding the action to a genuinely epic scale.

Flight of the Dragons features the return of The World's Collide's breakout characters. The purple dragon with its puckish Celtic Faerie rider return, along with an entire retinue of colourful dragons. Other beloved creatures can be seen teeming across the canvas: her ghostly faerie spirits from Moon Song and many 'Nature's Faeries’ works appear, together with that iconic faerie moon... There's even the Pirate Ship from Kerry's beloved Peter Pan series - something we'd never thought we'd see again. An extra treat for her Pan collectors around the world.

All paintings that tell a story I just love ..... Being able to look deeper into the meaning of it...."

Rise of the Machines

Arguably the most intriguing of all is the Steampunk elements that make their welcome return to Kerry's ourve. Harking back to her now-legendary 'Eccentric Machine' works - TightAnick, Gastropod and Beezyjet - new machines can be seen: flying cars and coaches glide through the air, a strange, UFO-style flying craft rises above the castle battlements... A hot air balloon looms into view - and most intriguingly of all, a fantastical bio-mechanical creature featuring a fish-like tail, dragonfly wings and whirring propellers, with a verdigris encrusted copper body...

I am delighted, one more time, by the daring of my species and the audacity of our flying machines. There is poetry and music in our technology, a beauty as touching as that of eagle, moss campion, raven or yonder limestone boulder shining under the Arctic sun.”

Choose your Own Adventure

Like Kerry's Classic Alice in Wonderland Down the Rabbit Hole or Peter Pan in Neverland this is a work so richly detailed, the viewer will always discover something new (did you spot the octopus in the water in the previous picture?). The level of detail has required the celebrated 3D elements in this Unique Edition to be three levels deep - an incredible level of detail an immersion in a magical window to Kerry Darlington's incredible world.

Each Unique Edition includes this incredible hand signed keepsake by Kerry Darlington: this brillant dragon-eye charm. Her most striking ever!
