In 2019 I painted a piece called 'By the Light of the Moon', for this piece I took the same scene but zoomed out to extend the scene. So you can see the owls resting upon the tree branches, and the other animals watching over their village.

A magical composition in circle format, Walking Each Other Home is a vision in midnight blues and soft silver leaf. The highly anticipated follow up to last year’s title showpiece, By the Light of the Moon, this new work reveals the wider scene of woodland animals meeting under the silhouette of a winter-sparse tree. Guarding the village below, the king of the woods is accompanied by a wolf howling towards the luminous full moon suspended in the sky above. With crooked chimneys reminiscent to her wonderful Godric’s Hollow series, plus references to celebrated works such as The Wise One and Breath of the Wild; Walking Each Other Home unites ideas that have underpinned Kerry Darlington’s practise for over two decades.
Presented unframed, Kerry’s extraordinary original work has been magnificently translated into unique edition format. Finished with gloss resin, and with silver leaf detailing throughout, all five animals plus the owls have all been raised in three-dimensional relief.
For those already in ownership of last year’s incredible By the Light of the Moon edition (90 x 90cm) Walking Each Other Home is slightly more compact at 70 x 70cm making for a stunning complimentary piece, or single acquisition perfect to start or expand your collection
