The Northern Lights - Kerry Darlington

Beneath a celestial sky shimmering with gold, the extraordinary world of Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials comes alive in one of Kerry Darlington's most enchanting literary interpretations. The Northern Lights celebrates the remarkable bond between Lyra Belacqua, her faithful dæmon Pantalaimon and Iorek Byrnison, the majestic armoured bear whose friendship helps shape her destiny.

Lyra's face is illuminated by the breathtaking colours of the Aurora Borealis, her wide-eyed expression capturing the wonder of a young adventurer discovering a world far greater than she could ever have imagined. Pantalaimon peeks from the warmth of her fur-lined coat, while Iorek's enormous head rests protectively above her, his intricate armour and beautifully textured fur contrasting with the brilliant movement of the northern sky.

The relationship between Lyra and Iorek is one of the most compelling in Pullman's celebrated trilogy. Despite their vastly different worlds, the two develop a friendship founded upon courage, honesty and unwavering loyalty. It is Iorek who gives Lyra the name Silvertongue, a tribute to the remarkable intelligence and persuasive gifts that will come to define her adventures.

Created as an exceptionally scarce Gold Edition, this magnificent interpretation combines intricate three-dimensional embellishments with precious gold leaf and a lustrous gloss resin finish. The golden detailing brings an added richness to the composition, reflecting the celestial brilliance of the aurora and creating a captivating interplay of colour, texture and light.

Strictly limited to just 10 Gold Editions worldwide, this highly collectable artwork represents a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most exclusive interpretations of Kerry Darlington's The Northern Lights. A celebration of loyalty, wonder and the extraordinary friendships that make even the most impossible adventures feel within reach.

Experience and care with each order

Trading for over 30 years, we have made art our passion. Therefore we have developed a strict set of standards for the safe storage and dispatch of our precious works to our collectors. Our meticulous 12-point checklist ensures every work upholds our exacting quality standards when dispatching one of our artworks.

Starting at dispatch from the artist's studio, we've worked together with our community of artists to ensure delivery to the gallery is as meticulous as possible - each work packaged safe transit.

Upon arrival in our Weybridge showroom, each new arrival is examined by the studio & dispatch team. Frames are scrutinised for a perfect finish: glass is polished to perfection with anti-static art cloths. Auxiliary features like the string/wire and certification on the reverse are checked for positioning and correct mounting. Finally, the work itself is inspected to ensure a flawless transition from studio to gallery. Upon purchase, the work is cleaned again and meticulously subjected to our trademark 12-point checking system to ensure a safe secure journey to its ultimate destination.
