'Alchemy' is a deeply considered artwork that brings together symbolism, colour and emotional meaning. Peacocks, a recurring motif in Kerry Darlington’s work, appear here as emblems of beauty, renewal and good fortune, facing one another beneath a luminous moon. Influenced by Art Nouveau and Kerry’s admiration for Klimt’s opulent surfaces and intricate detailing, the piece feels abundant, balanced and full of life. The sentiment is distilled in the words “Love is Alchemy” by Marie Lu.

Created as an original mixed media artwork on board, the piece is finished with a matte archival varnish, giving it a soft, timeless presence. 3D resin crystallised-effect embellishments feature on the peacocks adding depth and tactile detail, revealing new elements the longer you spend with it. A one-of-a-kind work that rewards close attention and reflects Kerry’s enduring connection to this powerful motif.
