Artist: Kerry Darlington
Kerry Darlington’s 'Arrakis' takes its name from the fabled desert planet in Frank Herbert’s Dune, a world where beauty, danger and destiny converge. Just as the planet 'Arrakis' holds the universe’s most precious resource, Kerry’s circular abstract captures that same sense of elemental energy and creation.
Beginning with layers of textured ground, Kerry builds glowing fields of turquoise, violet, indigo and magenta, veined with rivers of metallic gold. The composition pulses outward from its centre, as if a celestial force radiates from within. Each delicate layer of vibrant acrylic paint is sealed beneath a final gloss resin finish, giving the artwork both depth and luminosity, like light refracted through an atmosphere of shifting sands and heat haze.
'Arrakis' embodies the tension between order and chaos, reflecting both the cosmic scale of Herbert’s imagined world and Kerry’s own fascination with planetary landscapes. It’s a portal to a universe of colour, power and transcendence, a world suspended between myth and science, creation and imagination.
