THE ART OF THE ABSTRACT

"I was born on the Caribbean Island of Puerto Rico where I spent the first ten years of my life. I am very interested in the world and the environment around me and although my work is, to an extent, impressionistic, I also aim to capture the figurative and the essence of reality."

As an artist who enjoys a challenge, she has always worked at a large scale, particularly impressive for such a petit figure.

Indeed, the physicality she demonstrates, dashing around a canvas panel several times larger than herself is a fantastically energetic process and the size of the studio floor – now covered with patina of pigments, resin and varnishes – accommodates this intensely visceral production.
